Dryer Duct Cleaning
According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission 15,600 fires in 1998 were attributed to clothes dryers. Many of these were due to clogged or restricted dryer duct vents. Some common causes of dryer duct clogging are poor design and or installation workmanship of the dryer duct that goes from the dryer to the outside of the house. Some dryer manufacturers recommend dryer duct cleaning once a year. Dirty dryer ducts can cause:
- Higher risk of fire
- Longer drying times
- Higher utility bills
- Shorter dryer life
Typically, Air Care Experts dryer duct cleaning service includes disconnecting the dryer from the wall and inserting a rotating brush through the duct that runs from the dryer location in the house to the dryer duct discharge location on the outside of the house. This allows the duct to be brushed clean. At the same time the duct is being brushed, a vacuum and blower system is attached to the ductwork to assist in carrying the lint out of the duct. In some cases the duct may be full of water and must be pumped out with a different system. Air Care Experts dryer duct cleaning service, as a stand alone residential service, may only be available in southern Orange County, California.
