Locate the wall studs where the shelf standards will be mounted. Position the standards so the top ends are pointing towards the ceiling. The top ends are usually the ones that start out with a countersunk screw hole first, and then slots for the wall brackets.
Mount the first standard at the desired location using a flat head screw. Use a carpenter’s level to make sure the standard is plumb. Place the level on the top of the mounted standard and make a level mark at the stud location where the next standard will be.
Attach the next shelf standard to the wall using flat head screws. Again, use a carpenter’s level to make sure the standards are plumb. Attach the arm brackets and hang the shelves.
